Pitlochry in Scotland’s Perthshire is one of the most archetypal and iconic towns you can visit within a few hours drive from either Edinburgh or Glasgow en route to the Highlands.
In addition to being a typically-Scottish charming town, with all the usual pubs, cafes and tourist shops, the surrounding area is renown for its natural beauty, particularly in the Fall. Autumn is probably one of the best times of year to visit Perthshire for its fantastic leaf colour displays, when the area around Pitlochry is simply gorgeous! We are certainly heading there, once again, this year. Easy walks from the town lead to Faskally loch and wood, where decidous trees of many types abound, with colours to match.

Faskaly wood in the Fall
Faskally wood has for some years now been the venue of a light and sound show, which is simply spectacular. I shall be reporting on this year’s show at the time. Faskally loch fuses with the river Tummel, a great salmon fishing location, via the hydroelectric dam.

By now I hope you can appreciate that this is a wonderful natural, and typically Scottish, location for an Autumn Festival.

In addition to the sound/light show, the programme of events includes a Haloween Marquee, Ghost Tours, Street Entertainers, Story Telling, Treasure Hunts and much more. The 17-day fun should include activities and shows to please either families or individuals.
